I; started reading Andre Norton's books in the early 1950s and continued to read her throughout her life. As an author whose career was in my lifetime (AS WAS THE CAREER OF Robert HEINLEIN), I feel that I have been privileged to read their books in their first editions. Now that we have lost both of these great,entertainers, I encourage those of you who read, fo collect the reprints of their work and gulp it down in great admiration of their imaginations .A special benefit of Norton's reprints, is that the ones I purchased have two books in each binder..Of course that does permit changing the name of the Manuscript, so that old fogies like me think we may have found a book unpublished until after the authors death. My comments apply not only to the Forerunner Factor but to Star soldiers, Darkness and Dawn, Moonsinger and The Iron BreedProduct details

Book looks good and will read when done with "Time Traders II".
I am an avid science fiction fan.
I would recommend Forerunner Factor to any science fiction lover.
I have been reading and enjoying science fiction books such as this one for 25-27 years now.
Andre Norton is a master in her field.
Typical Andre Norton. It's a classic "Juvenal".
Editing was decent, although I'm almost certain that Norton never had characters refer to each other as "gentle fern," which is a global error in this edition. I've always loved the notion of the Forerunners, and I liked Simsa. Nonetheless, I feel like this was a story that either needed more telling, or should have been left off after the first Forerunner novel.
Both books involve a description of the emotional growth of an young woman from a precocious teenager in a backward world to an adult whose personality is eventually merged with that of an ancient and powerful female Mage. It is close to being written in the first person and thereby is able to record for the reader her (the girl) innermost thoughts and conflicts. A fun read. Maybe one of her precursor books to the witch World Series.
I give this novel five stars because I like fast paced novels that have both action and mystery to hold your interest so that you can't put it down until the mystery is solved. If you like science fiction and fantasy with aliens on alien worlds and a touch of imagery pertaining to events of life, you will enjoy this novel as much as I did. This book if filled with "What ifs?"
Being female I found the lead character to be strong and exciting. The story line was one of my favorites with the heroine going from weakness into strength and able to control her situation, coming out on top or at the very least level with her circumstances.
